Apicoectomy
Apicoectomy is the most common surgery used to restore damaged teeth. Typically a root canal is sufficient in saving teeth from injured pulp. However, occasionally this non-surgical procedure will not be enough to heel the tooth. At this time, your Endodontist will likely recommend surgery.
Apicoectomy or ‘root-end resection’ is a surgery whereby the inflamed tissue and root tip are removed. A root-end filing will be placed to prevent further infection of the root canal. Your Doctor will provide you with after-care instructions and will prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort you may experience.
